Annex I Section I: General accessibility requirements for all products

manufacturer · subject kind product · Annex I Section I

Products must be designed and produced in such a way as to maximise their foreseeable use by persons with disabilities and shall be accompanied where possible in or on the product by accessible information on their functioning and on their accessibility features.

How to satisfy it: Article 4(2): ALL products. There is no microenterprise exemption on the product side — Article 4(5) covers services only, so a four-person hardware maker carries the full Article 7 stack.

No harmonised standard is cited in the Official Journal under this Directive, so the Article 15(1) presumption of conformity is available to nobody. EN 301 549 is harmonised under Directive (EU) 2016/2102, the Web Accessibility Directive, and not under this one. Conformity is demonstrated against Annex I directly.
